The rationale behind Complying Development is essentially to by-pass the Council Development Application process for minor building works. Each Council stipulates its own policies on Complying Development.

A successful Complying Development application will not require a Development Application. A Complying Development Certificate (CDC) can be issued by Greenfield Accredited Certifiers and substitutes a Construction Certificate. The process from commencement of construction will be identical.

Complying Development is available for most minor building works such as swimming pools, awnings, pergolas and carports.

Drawing of plans		Engage a professional architect, draftsman or builder.

Complying Development Assessment To ensure it complies with Council Complying Development Policies.		Greenfield Accredited Certifiers can perform Complying Development assessments.

Complying Development Certificate* A Certificate is issued upon successful assessment.		Greenfield Accredited Certifiers can issue a CDC within days of receipt of all documents.

Commence Construction		You may commence construction 2 days after Council receives a copy of the CDC.

Critical Stage Inspections Performed during construction		Greenfield Accredited Certifiers will perform such inspections. Call us before 2 PM on the day prior to the required inspection day.

Occupation Certificate* allows you to occupy or use the building.		Greenfield Accredited Certifiers will issue an Occupation Certificate upon a successful Final Inspection and all required certificates are received.

*By Law, we are required to forward a copy of your Complying Development Certificate and Occupation Certificate to your Local Council.
